  • FOUNDER/PRESIDENT/TREASURER- Leslie Miles, MSN, AGNP, WCC

    Leslie founded The Michigan Wellness Project in 2024. After over a decade working in the traditional healthcare arena, she recognized it’s many shortfalls and set out to change the world. She saw that there was a better way and developed a plan to put it into action. This plan focused on community education, advocacy, and unwavering support for patients, their families, and the healthcare team alike.

    Leslie has been a Registered nurse since 2014 and Nurse Practitioner since 2020. She has worked in specialties such as long term/acute care, neurology, hospice and geriatrics and has also been a clinical nursing instructor in the community.

    She is highly knowledgeable about chronic condition management and strives to empower patients to take control of their health and wellness through education and a holistic approach. She is also passionate about providing support by way of education, mental health resources and hands-on training to patients, their caregivers and healthcare workers.

    Outside of her business (Wellness re-InVented) and career as a Nurse Practitioner at Senior Community Care of Michigan, Leslie enjoys traveling the world, exploring, and making memories with her husband and 5 daughters.

  • VICE PRESIDENT- Bailey Whitcomb, RN

    Bailey earned an Associates Degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College, where she developed a deep understanding of healthcare practices and patient-centered care. Bailey is currently continuing her education at Western Governors University for completion of her Bachelors Degree. Throughout her academic journey, she has demonstrated a passion for learning and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in the field of nursing.

    Bailey has amassed a wealth of experience in clinical practice, specifically with the geriatric population. She has served in roles that encompass palliative-care, post-operative care, medical surgical nursing and home-health. Bailey enjoys consistently demonstrating leadership and innovation in healthcare delivery.

    Known for her compassionate approach and unwavering dedication to patient welfare, Bailey advocates for patient autonomy, nursing education and healthcare innovation. She believes in fostering collaborative relationships and driving positive change within the healthcare community.

    Outside of her professional endeavors, Bailey enjoys exploring the outdoors, golfing, and spending time with her family which include her Australian Shepherd “Ava” and rescue dog “Miles”.

  • SECRETARY- Stefanie St. John

    Stefanie St. John is the Director of Primary Care for The Care Team Home Health & Hospice and Visiting Physicians Group, with 15 years of experience in senior living and health care. She has held key roles in business development, marketing, and executive leadership, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for the elderly and chronically ill.

    As a Community Health Educator, Stefanie specializes in dementia, advanced care planning, and educating the community on their rights and resources. She empowers seniors and their families by ensuring they understand their health care benefits and the importance of early enrollment.

    Active in various networking groups and community events, Stefanie advocates for the elderly, particularly those affected by Alzheimer’s and related disorders and the chronically ill population. Her dedication to fostering community support and understanding highlights her commitment to improving the lives of seniors and their loved ones.

Our Board Members

  • BOARD MEMBER- Effie Alofoje-Carr

    Effie Alofoje-Carr holds a B.A. from Michigan State University and is a public health professional. She spent seven years serving the Lansing, MI area in Maternal, Infant and Child Health and Early Education as the Project Coordinator with the Ingham Local Leadership Group before spending a year with Challenge Detroit. Previously she was an Outreach Coordinator for young women and a legal advocate for survivors of domestic violence. She currently supports Michigan coalitions that help prevent substance misuse disorders in their communities. She is also a women’s event host and speaker with the goal of using her journey to inspire women to make over their lives to live out their dreams. Effie is a certified breastfeeding peer counselor, certified childbirth doula, certified life coach and on-air radio personality. Effie is married to Destavioun Carr Sr. and they are long overdue for one of her famous surprise date nights. Together they chase after Destavioun Jr, their brilliant and active 10 year old son, and they look forward to having many new adventures together.

  • BOARD MEMBER- Roger Velazquez, MD

    Dr. Velazquez is a resident in Emergency Medicine at UC Irvine. He and his wife Catherine recently moved back to California from Michigan after Roger completed Medical School at Michigan State University. Both Roger and his wife work in the medical field and are passionate about serving their communities.

  • BOARD MEMBER- Olivia McIntyre, CMWC, GHNS

    Olivia, “Liv”, is a Certified Mental Wellness Coach from Owosso. She first met Leslie and the Wellness re-InVented team when she discovered IV therapy as a holistic treatment for her own chronic illness. She is so excited to share her passion for all things holistic with the community. As a CMWC, she focuses on the connection between gut and mental health to improve overall wellness.

  • BOARD MEMBER- Catherine Velazquez, BSN, RN

    Catherine has been a bedside registered nurse for six years in the inpatient setting. When she’s not at work you can find her tending to her houseplants, watching true crime shows with her husband, playing with her two golden retrievers or making memories with her newborn son. Catherine is passionate about helping others and loves the connections she builds with others through nursing. She has seen the challenges patients face managing their chronic illnesses and is eager to help others in our community feel better!
